(our AI-powered travel FAQ and research platform) -

does not create an account for the other.

location derived from IP, pages visited, timestamps, diagnostics, and security events. -

Shumba Travel newsletter subscribers may unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in
our emails.

We use functional cookies and similar technologies necessary for authentication (where
applicable), security, and operation of our websites. You may control cookies through your
browser settings and our cookie preference tools, although disabling them may affect

Atlas AI services
Atlas submits user questions to OpenAI’s API to generate responses. Please avoid submitting
sensitive personal information in your questions. We may retain limited operational records

4. Travel Quest (mobile app)
Travel Quest is a family-friendly scavenger-hunt companion app operated by Shumba Travel. It
includes free demo quests and paid quests (including cruise-ship quests) unlocked through
in-app purchases.
Information we collect in Travel Quest
-
Account: email address, password (handled by Firebase Authentication),
display name, last name, username. -
Profile / progress: quest progress, completions, badges, entitlements,
preferences such as terms acceptance. -
Purchases: in-app purchase records verified with Apple App Store and/or
Google Play; purchase/ledger records on our servers (including product identifiers and
transaction identifiers as needed to grant access and prevent fraud). - Discount / booking codes: codes you enter and related redemption records.
-
User content: photos, videos, text answers, and pose submissions for
challenges; optional sharing of media to a group session feed. -
Group play: invite codes, session membership, display name, scores, and media
visible to the organizer and other players in that session when shared. -
Device / technical: device and app identifiers needed to operate the service,
security (including App Check), crash/diagnostic data if enabled, and similar technical logs. -
Support: information you send to support (e.g.
tq-support@ShumbaTravel.com).
Camera, microphone, and photo library: We request these permissions only to
capture or select media for scavenger-hunt challenges. We do not use them for unrelated
advertising.
Location: Travel Quest does not collect precise device GPS
location in the current product. Quest challenges may ask you to find places in the real world,
but that is instruction text—not location tracking.
Analytics: We may use Firebase Analytics or similar tools to understand app
usage and reliability. We do not sell personal information and do
not use Travel Quest data for cross-context behavioral advertising.
How we use Travel Quest information
- Create and manage your account and authenticate you
- Deliver quests, grade or record challenge completions, and sync progress
- Process in-app purchases and code redemptions and grant quest access
- Enable solo and group play, including organizer review and group feed features you use
- Moderate content (including removing inappropriate media) and respond to reports/blocks
- Provide support, security, fraud prevention, and legal compliance
- Improve Travel Quest
Session media retention
Photos and videos submitted during a quest session may be stored in cloud storage so organizers
can review submissions and so you can sync progress.
Session media is generally retained for 90 days after the session completes, then deleted from
storage.
Badges and completion records are not removed when media is purged.
Sharing and group visibility
When you join a group session, your display name, score, and submitted media may be visible to
the organizer and other players in that session, according to session settings and your choices
at submission. We do not auto-post your media to public social networks.
Purchases
Quest access is purchased through Apple App Store or Google Play. Pricing, billing, and refunds
follow the applicable store’s policies. We receive verification information from Apple/Google as
needed to unlock content.
Account deletion
You may delete your Travel Quest account in the app (Profile → Delete account). Deletion removes
or schedules removal of your account and associated personal data as described in our practices,
subject to records we must keep for legal, fraud-prevention, accounting, or dispute-resolution
purposes (for example, limited purchase records). For help, contact
tq-support@ShumbaTravel.com
or
privacy@shumbatravel.com.
Children’s privacy (Travel Quest)
Travel Quest is intended as a general audience, family-friendly app. It is
not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal
information from children under 13. Parents or guardians may create and manage accounts for
family play. We do not offer Travel Quest in Apple’s Kids Category or Google Play Families as a
children’s-directed product.
Third parties used for Travel Quest
Depending on features you use, we rely on providers such as:
-
Apple and Google (app distribution, in-app purchases,
platform services) -
Google Firebase / Google Cloud (authentication, database, storage, cloud
functions, App Check, analytics where enabled)
These providers process data on our behalf under their terms and our configuration.
5. Legal basis
Where applicable, we process personal information based on your consent, our legitimate
interests in operating and improving our services, the performance of requested services, and
compliance with legal obligations.
6. Sharing
We do not sell or rent personal information and do not share personal information for
cross-context behavioral advertising.
We use trusted service providers for hosting, authentication, analytics, AI processing (Atlas),
payments verification (Travel Quest), security, and communications. Because Atlas, the Website,
and Travel Quest are operated by Shumba Travel, information used across those services remains
within the same business, but product accounts remain separate unless you choose
to use the same email address for more than one product.
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection
with a business transfer.
7. International transfers
Our service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required,
we use appropriate safeguards.
8. Security
We maintain commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards. No
security system is perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Retention
We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for business purposes, legal
obligations, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, security, and enforcement of our agreements.
For Travel Quest session media, see the 90-day retention description above. If
you request deletion, we may retain minimal records necessary to honor opt-out requests, detect
fraud, or comply with law.
10. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to
processing, withdraw consent, or request a copy of your personal information. California
residents and residents of other applicable U.S. states may exercise applicable rights by
contacting
privacy@shumbatravel.com.
Travel Quest users may also use in-app account deletion where available.
11. Children (all services)
Our services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their
personal information. If we learn we have done so, we will delete it as required by law. See also
the Travel Quest-specific note above.
12. Third-party links
Our websites and apps may link to third-party websites or stores (including Apple App Store and
Google Play). We are not responsible for their privacy practices.
13. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be reflected by updating
the Last Updated date and, where required by law, obtaining additional consent before applying
changes to previously collected information.
